Whell it’s not the program for sure (I don’t have bugs 🙂 )
So today I did an experiment without the program running, been in a room for a while , closed and re-openned, open empty cam window and pal closed immediately.
While I had the dubbuger running yesterday I’ve noticed that every time I right-click the text in the room there is a memory access violation though pal does not crash and the nick is selected in the list, but this shouldn’t happen
Done…btw, I updated to 553…and still getting the program quitting all of a sudden…I can’t nail down that it is cam related….but it does seem to happen more when I have the program running….I will run pal without for a while and see what happens.
I’ve ran the debugger on paltalk and the only thing I got was that all threads and the process exited with code 0x417 which is not a documented error code
I use the regular video strip located at the top of the room….the room is open on the screen. I sometimes have 1 or 2 cams popped out….but not always….keep menu bar visable…floating webcam set to small, floating webcams are auto arranged…..
I didn’t like this auto arrange from the start 🙂

OK, that seems to work…..I don’t have the issue with the wacky windows focus behaviour…should I add this one to the installer and update it?

hey that was like Paltalk 9.x or something wasn’t it? I lost it when I redid a computer or something….and never was able to find it, which is why I asked, but it was a GREAT app…..

You can also add a note, for those who do not know, that the icon can be dragged from the invisible icons area to the tray. to be visible and easy to access.

I got one issue I noticed….windows can not be clicked active, or closed, minimized etc unless you click the title bar and bring focus to it first….only started happening after you changed something with window focus I think. No difference in using the video strip with background refresh, or pop out windows with that option off.

Windows 7 Home Premium and Enterprise….I used to e able to click the X to close a Window…or right click in the window to close it….but now I can’t do anything until I click on the window to activate it…then I can click the x to close it…weird….happens between room and IM windows too…not just cams….do you have version 551? Could be that…
it def. has something to do with the program, as soon as I quite it…all seems to react the way it should….but I will keep testing.

I don’t know…I loaded distributable for 32 and 64 bit and it worked….if I quit paltalk and restart, I need to disconnect then reconnect to paltalk…it does auto connect to the room and load cams….
If I switch rooms, it doesn’t see it…stays connected to original room….if I disconnect and reconnect it works…so the room detect and automatic connect isn’t working…other than that…so far…so good! Thank you.

It was permission issue actually.
Also when a room is first open, it’s title is not as it should be, had to work around that too.
EDIT: BTW I am thinking that the add to favorite cams will also open the cam if not already open… after I had some rest of this LOL
other than having to disconnect and reconnect…it works…..:)

I just had unexpected exit of paltalk, could be my fault, report if you had any.
so far no…I did have it running, and when I launched pal it didn’t load (even though it connected to paltalk and the room)….quite the program, relaunched it…worked like a charm then

ok…so far…so good…but one thought on a previous question….can there be an options…for those of us that use the video strip, to update cames when the window is not active…the only reason I ask…as an admin, I am sometimes in IM’s or checking mail etc…and the chat room window is not active….can there be a check to see if the video strip is active, and if so, load cams no matter what status of the window? does that make sense or more trouble than it is worth…other than that…things are working very well.

For real, if you are using the cam strip you’re not a pervert to the core.
Oppened cams are not forgotten, they are queued in a list and once you attampt to open all cams in the list, it just takes time.
I have increased the time cams are open from 1 per second to 1 per 2 seconds.
It’s feasible, but i need a break for a while 🙂
I didn’t take a break and I was late for my doc appointment.

ohh the speed that they open is not an issue….it works just as you designed…..and I only use the video strip for 2 reasons…..the main reason is my laptop screen is too small to have a bunch of open windows…so I can see more cams with the video strip, and make the ones I want to pay attention to pop out :)….
Just FYI….I had the proggie running today…opened up pal, went into the room, and the program connected to pal, then connected to the room then started opening cams….so it worked perfectly.
Which paltalk version you run it?
I just had pal close again, no error or anything, simply vanished.
running the beta 550….it does that…in your paltalk folder should be a debug file if you are running beta…..

This is preffered, as those libraries get updated by Windows Update if needed.
I updated the installer to include a readme and not overwrite config or c++ files if they exist…otherwise it is the same as the one I previously had there…let me know what you think.
This is the installer that I threw together…It installs the application, a default config as well as runs the 2012 C++ distribution install in quiet mode.

Okay, I included this version as well as the 2012 c++ runtime for x86 installer in my installer. That should be it…on testing, it works on my laptop and desktop. Let me know if it works for you.

Tested with pal ver. 11.5-577, haven’t tested with earlier versions.
Fixed some bugs and add few features (like bringing the selected room to front)
Also ambeded the scroll fix in it too
Bug fixes and few improvements.
The scroll bug will work up to build 602, in case new versions still has it add the following lines with new version # to settings file as below:
