A Decade’s Farewell

Summary

At the company celebration dinner, the handsome new intern started charming my wife, Nina. He playfully asked to see the hearing aid in my ear.

With a laugh, Nina reached over and pulled it off, handing it to him.

The intern, Charlie, glanced at it with a flicker of distaste before casually dropping it on the floor.

I lunged to pick it up, but he "accidentally" stepped on my hand. A sharp, searing pain shot through my fingers as the device was crushed under his shoe.

When I put the mangled aid back on, a wave of fury washed over me.
