Summary
After I retired, I had too much time on my hands, so I fell in love with knitting.
My neighbor, Carol, gushed about a design I’d made and insisted on buying it for her daughter. I tried to refuse, but she wouldn’t take no for an answer, so I let it go for the cost of the yarn.
After that, it became a thing. Other neighbors would bring me yarn, asking me to knit sweaters for them. I’d only ever charge a ten-dollar fee for my time.
It went on like this until the day Carol’s daughter, Jessie, came home from law school.
