Summary
The engagement party had finally begun to wind down, the heavy scent of lilies and expensive perfume hanging in the stagnant air of the ballroom. We had just taken our seats at the head table—my family, the man I was supposed to spend my life with, and his parents.

He started eating it. Not just eating it, but devouring it with a feral, mindless speed that made my stomach turn.
