Summary
The day before the wedding, my fiancé’s ex-girlfriend texted him: “If you marry her, I’ll give myself to another man.” He grabbed his car keys, ready to bolt, but his mother, threatening to end her own life, blocked him at the door.
Eight years later, his mother passed away. The first thing he did was throw me into the city’s sketchiest club, forcing me to serve drinks. Pinned at a card table, he whispered in my ear, “If you hadn’t been so eager to marry me back then, she wouldn’t have ended up like this. Now, it’s your turn to feel the humiliation she suffered.”
