Summary
Sophia Wilson is the youngest chief of cardiothoracic surgery in Greenley.
Everyone says she has the steadiest hands and a heart made of stone.
But I know she isn't incapable of feeling. It's just that her tenderness is never reserved for me.
The day after our engagement party, Dad suffers a sudden stroke and gets rushed into surgery. The nurse tells me I need a second person to sign off on the surgery, so I call Sophia right away.
The phone rings for a long time before she finally answers. Through the line, I hear a man's weak, ragged breathing.
It's her ex-boyfriend, Harrison Cross.
