Forgiven Once, but Never Again

Summary

The day my wife, Megan Carrick, is due to give birth, her ex-husband, Ian Reynolds, calls again.

This time, his excuse is an alcohol allergy.

To take care of him, she ignores her labor pains and wraps a thick rope tightly around her pregnant belly to delay the delivery.

By the time I arrive at the hospital, the doctor tells me our baby has suffocated to death.

I light a cigarette and ask Megan for a divorce.

That night, despite having just lost our baby, she drops to her knees outside our door and kneels in the pouring rain for an entire day and night.
