Summary
Every autumn throughout our four years of college, Jonas would find the most vibrant sycamore leaf on campus and bring it to me.
He promised that once our senior road trip was over, he would press all four leaves into a glass frame and hang it in our very first apartment together.
Yet, when we arrived at the mountain cabin and sorted out the rooms, he gave the only master suite with a private bath to Vivian.
"She got trapped in an elevator as a child," Jonas explained, his tone infuriatingly reasonable. "She gets panic attacks if she has to sleep in a dark room alone."
