Summary
It was 1 AM when my phone buzzed, slicing through the dead quiet of my bedroom. The caller ID flashed: Mr. Sterling, CEO. I let out a groan.
He was calling to check if I was still at my desk. I wasn’t.
"Leo," his voice was sharp, laced with that signature icy anger. "Where the hell are you? Your station is empty."
"Mr. Sterling, I'm home. I clocked out," I mumbled, my head still foggy with sleep.
"Home? Clocked out?" He scoffed, and I could almost hear the sneer. "You barely put in a shift. What was it, ten, twelve hours? Is that all you've got?"
