He Gave My Dog Away

Summary

At the landslide rescue site, Buddy, the award-winning search dog I raised from a pup, found every trapped survivor. But during the evacuation, a secondary collapse occurred.

Steve’s apprentice, Suzie, got pinned on the edge of the collapsing slope, half her body dangling over the cliff. Crying, she shouted to Steve, “Captain, I wish there were no Maya in our next life. I wish we could be together out in the open…”

The radio channel went dead silent. Ignoring everyone’s warnings, Steve scrambled up the unstable rocks like a madman, risking his life to pull her to safety.
