Summary
My fiancée and my best friend were million-dollar litigation partners at the most prestigious defense firm in the city.
I was the firm’s front desk receptionist.
Inside the courtroom, they were a single, lethal organism. They traded sharp-tongued legal barbs, anticipated each other’s objections before the judge could even reach for a gavel, and operated on an unspoken, terrifying rhythm.
In life, that rhythm was just as impenetrable. They bantered in statutory citations, batting inside jokes back and forth across dinner tables—jokes written in a language only the two of them spoke.
