Summary
My boyfriend was an extreme minimalist.
His apartment was a study in clinical emptiness. Stark white walls, bare surfaces, and not a single stray item to suggest that two people had shared the space for nearly a decade. He kept nothing. Not the handwritten letters where I had poured out my soul, nor the delicate diamond band he’d bought me—the one that was supposed to promise a lifetime of devotion.
"Hazel, he isn't a minimalist," Cheryl, my best friend, used to tell me, her voice tight with frustration every time we met. "He just doesn't love you. When are you going to wake up?"
