His Loyalty Bit Back

Summary

We spent that Saturday morning at a K-9 protection training facility on the outskirts of the city, looking for a German Shepherd.

While we were inspecting the kennel, a sleek, sable-coated Shepherd lunged forward and locked its jaws onto the cuff of Elliott’s dark jeans, refusing to let go.

I reached out instinctively, offering the back of my hand for him to catch my scent.

The dog pulled his lips back, throat vibrating with a guttural, menacing snarl that stopped my breath.
