Summary
It took me threatening to call off the wedding for my fiancée, Charlotte, a captain at Transcontinental Airlines, to finally agree to let me fly on one of her transatlantic routes.
"Be at the flagship lounge by five-thirty tomorrow morning," she’d told me, her voice clipped and professional. "If you're late, don't expect me to wait."
Terrified of missing it, I arrived outside her apartment building at three in the morning, holding a warm container of breakfast I’d spent hours preparing for her.
Instead, I watched Elliot walk out of the lobby, his arm wrapped tightly around her waist.
