Summary
To prove she wasn't playing favorites, I was the first person to donate blood at the Pack Blood Drive my mother had organized.
The drive had been ordered by the North American Lycan Council after a rogue attack overwhelmed three regional blood banks. If Silverpine Pack met its quota before midnight, Mom would pass the final review for the promotion she had pursued for seven years.
The collection bag had barely reached one hundred milliliters when my vision darkened. My heart battered against my ribs so hard that every beat hurt.
I reached for the clamp on the tubing.
