Summary
The boy I’d loved for a lifetime was throwing himself into the Atlantic, and the entire neighborhood was screaming for someone to save him.
The salt air was thick with panic, but I didn't move. Instead, I grabbed my brother, Griffith, by the collar and shoved him back inside. I slammed the heavy oak door shut and slid the iron bolt home with a resounding clack.
Griffith lunged for the door, his face a mask of frantic desperation. I didn't give him the chance. I took the heavy brass key, shoved it into my mouth, and swallowed.
