Summary

Before my surgery, my best friend asked me, "You and Vivian are practically married. Why do you suddenly want to break up?"

I handed him my phone. "Because of one message."

The chat stopped at noon. I'd sent Vivian a photo of my lunch and complained that the takeout was awful.

Four hours later, she replied with one word: "Yeah."
