Summary
The first day of freshman year, a charity case showed up in our dorm room.
She was schlepping a battered duffel bag that looked like it had been through a war, and her eyes were glued to the durian on my desk.
Just then, I saw the comments pop into my vision, translucent and glowing:
【OMG, poor baby. She grew up in some backwoods town in Appalachia, she has no idea what a durian even is.】
A wave of pity washed over me, a familiar, stupid ache. I immediately offered her a piece.
