Summary
The locksmith finished his work on Saturday morning, placing three silver keys on the coffee table with a metallic clink.
One for my father, one for my mother, and one for my older sister, Jessica, who had moved out years ago when she got married.
I waited for a moment, my eyes tracking the spare key left in the locksmith’s hand. "What about mine?" I asked.
My mother scooped the keys into her palm, her expression effortless, as if the thought hadn’t even crossed her mind. "You live here every day, Riley. Just ring the bell when you get back. Why waste fifty bucks on a fourth copy?"
