Summary
On the day my mom was getting remarried, my future stepsister blocked the entrance to the County Clerk’s office, in front of everyone.
"Before you go in, there’s something you need to sign," she announced. "We need a prenuptial agreement notarizing that my dad’s pension and his house remain separate assets. What’s his stays his."
My mom looked at me, her eyes stinging with hurt and humiliation.
I took a step forward, smiling coldly at the girl.
"Sure, we can notarize an agreement. But before we settle up who owns what in the future, how about we settle up what’s already owed?"
