Summary
It was the night before my wedding.
I was crammed into the bridal suite with my bridesmaids, a chaotic whirlwind of laughter, silk robes, and the sharp, sweet scent of cheap champagne. Bubbles rose and popped in our glasses, mirroring the nervous, fluttering energy in my chest.
Then my phone buzzed in my palm.
It was a text from my dad.
"Tomorrow morning before the ceremony, do not open your door."
I froze. A few feet away, one of my bridesmaids yanked at my veil, her laughter piercing the room, but the sound suddenly felt miles away. I stared at the screen.
