Summary
For the second time that week, Simon Hale stared at his phone and fed a whole grape to our six-month-old son.
The next second, our baby choked. His little face turned red, his hands and feet thrashing in panic.
Simon didn’t even lift his eyes from the screen.
“Sorry. I wasn’t paying attention.”
Ever since his first love added him back, that sentence had become his favorite excuse.
I fumbled to pat our son’s back, tears spilling down my face from fear.
Only when the grape finally came out did I breathe again.
