Summary
My engagement to Rhett Prescott, the crowned prince of Atherton’s old money, was decided when we were children.
Because of this status, I spent my childhood trying to control his every move.
Every time I pushed his limits, Rhett would lash out with the same defiant threat:
“Sloan Callahan, mark my words. I am going to blow up this farce of an engagement, and you’ll be the one left holding the pieces.”
Then, I discovered I was the fake heiress. I decided to retreat, to make myself small.
