Summary

After five years together, Abby Young finally said she was ready to take me home to meet her parents.

However, on the day of the visit, she asked my friend Gene Burke to pretend to be her boyfriend and told me to tag along for the free meal.

“Abby, I’m your boyfriend! You’re supposed to introduce me to your parents today!”

She did not even look up. “Gene just went through a breakup last month. He wants to know what it feels like to meet a girlfriend’s parents, so let him have this one.”

I refused to move. Gene sighed. “Forget it. I was only joking. You two should go.”
