Summary
I spent two years flying under the radar at my husband’s company.
I was, without a doubt, the most invisible person in my department.
So invisible that when the layoffs began, my name sat at the very top of the list.
The HR director slid the severance agreement across the desk to me, bypassing even the most basic pleasantries.
I didn't argue. I signed my name, packed up my single potted cactus, and walked out.
A week later, three of the company’s core multi-million-dollar projects ground to a complete halt.
At the end of the month, my husband flew back from London to audit the books.
