Summary
My mom returns my car after borrowing it for a month. The trunk is stuffed with boxes of local specialties from our hometown.
I drive it to my friend's auto repair shop for a routine inspection.
After checking underneath the car, my friend, Tom Stepney, crawls back out with a pale face.
"Henry, who did you piss off lately? Someone cut your brake line halfway through," he said in shock.
A chill runs down my spine as I immediately call Mom and say, "Mom, someone cut my brake line."
The sound of poker cards being dealt onto the table echoes through the phone.
