Summary
My father, a celebrated author, filled a 400,000-word memoir with tales of my younger siblings. My name never appeared. Mother insisted it was for his image. I was too average, too clumsy, a stain on our perfect family. Brother skipped grades; sister topped every class.
Thanksgiving brought a news crew to interview Father. Mother shoved me out the back door before they arrived. Inside, she glowed praising my brother’s brilliance. Father softened describing my sister’s vibrancy. Even their golden retriever was named a vital family member. I stayed hidden for three hours.
