Summary
During our lunch break, my coworker Brian slid his phone across the laminate table, knocking aside a paper coffee cup.
"Jason, take a look at this. Isn't that Sammy?"
On the small, glare-streaked screen, a little boy with a soft buzz cut stood in the center of a brightly lit classroom. Pinned over his chest was a circular red card.
Printed on it was a single white digit: "7".
He was wearing a blue-and-white striped tee I’d never seen before in his life. His small, chubby knuckles were clutching the hem so hard his fingertips had gone white. His eyes were rimmed in red, glassy and wide.
