Summary
I was three months into my battle with Stage IV gastric cancer when my wife, Jade, brought her "brother" into our home.
Her reasoning was a textbook exercise in guilt-tripping: Weston Miller, her childhood best friend, had lost everything—his marriage, his savings to medical bills, and his home. He was an orphan with nowhere else to go. Because he had once saved both our lives in a freak accident years ago, I felt I couldn't say no. I agreed to let him stay in our guest room.
