Summary
Preston Montgomery was a man ruled by the cold precision of a color-coded spectrum. He had a pathological need for order, and he categorized the world—and the people in it—using index cards.
Deep red was for the urgent, the life-altering, the things that required his immediate, undivided attention. Pale pink cards were for the mundane, the errands his assistants could handle. White cards were for the negligible—the noise of life that he often forgot existed entirely.
In our three years of marriage, I had collected a trunk full of those cards.
