Summary

I was always the good boy growing up. If someone was kind to me, I followed their lead.

When Meredith walked away from her family’s multi-billion-dollar empire and said, "Let's get married," I said, "Okay."

When she repeatedly shielded her eccentric young assistant after the wedding, saying, "He's just young and foolish, let it go," I said, "Okay."

Only much later did I realize that the person who needed to be best to me was myself.
