Playing Crazy To Stay Alive

Summary

In my past life, my roommate overheard that manic-depressive episodes make people reckless with money, so he stole my prescription antidepressants and swapped them out.

His excuse was sickeningly smug:

"I read about the placebo effect online. Look at you—you haven't taken the pills in days and you're still breathing, aren't you?

"Which means you've been faking it all along."

I begged him. I told him that without that medication, the urge to end my life would swallow me whole. I pleaded with him to give it back.
