Summary
After my son’s birth, a crushing darkness consumed me. The doctors called it postpartum depression. To me, it felt like drowning on dry land. I often held a blade to my wrist, trembling. Each time, Mark would seize me, sobbing into my neck. Please, think of me. Think of our baby. Even Lydia and Melody joined in, pressing knives to their own skin. If you go, we go. Three lives should be enough.
I tried. I took the pills, sat through therapy, and forced smiles because I couldn’t bear their blood on my hands. Just as the fog lifted, Lydia dragged me to a country club wedding.
