Summary
On the day of our wedding, my fiancé and my younger sister were killed in a horrific car accident.
The shock of it left my mother paralyzed and bedridden.
In the aftermath, everyone in our social circle whispered that I was a curse. A black widow. A harbinger of ruin who brought death to anyone foolish enough to love her.
I didn't have the luxury of grieving. During the day, I hauled drywall and loaded debris at dusty commercial construction sites. At night, I drove for DoorDash until my eyes burned, desperately trying to pay for my mother’s around-the-clock medical bills.
