Summary

I had just stepped out of a grueling six-hour surgery when a text from my girlfriend, Catherine, popped up on my screen. She wanted to go out for a proper, candlelit date.

I immediately headed to the chief's office to request a shift swap. But just as I pulled off my scrubs, my phone rang. The caller ID was a string of scrambled, unrecognizable digits. I picked up, only to hear a desperate, breathless voice on the other end.

"I’m on death row, Jared. They’re executing me today. The person who framed me is Catherine!"
