Summary
I held the family shirts I’d embroidered all night, our little cartoon faces stitched with care. My heart was light as we drove to Noah’s kindergarten sports day.
Then Phill spoke, shattering my world without warning.

His tone was flat, casual, as if commenting on the weather.
I froze, blood running cold.
