Summary
My mother had one non-negotiable house rule.
Every evening after dinner, the three of us had to sit at the dining table for what she called our "Circle of Gratitude." We were required to open our journals and read our daily entries aloud.
Ten minutes ago, it had been my turn.
"I’m grateful that despite the blizzard today, the specialty pharmacy downtown had the compounded gastric pills Mom needed," I read, keeping my voice level. "I’m glad I made it back before the roads closed."
