Summary

Lila, the new medical examiner, claimed she could hear the dead. During an autopsy, she suddenly wept. "He was only thirty," she cried. "His wife left him, his son is very ill, and he died in agony on a construction site."

She whispered, "His wife’s name is Laura. Even after being betrayed, he still loves her… He’s begging her to care for their son."

All eyes turned to me. My name is Laura.

I called it a coincidence—until the autopsy report confirmed every detail Lila had described. Just then, the victim’s son rushed in and called me "Mommy!"
