Summary
A crisp notification chime echoed from my roommate's iPad. I instinctively looked up, my eyes landing on the glowing screen. A WhatsApp message bubble popped up, and the name of the group chat was glaringly obvious: "Free ATM Club."
Driven by some inexplicable gut feeling, I reached out and tapped the bubble. The members of the group included Connor, who had just stepped out, our landlord, and my other two roommates.
"Celebrating another massive payday this month!"
"All thanks to Connor's quick thinking. Bumping up Oliver's rent saved us a fortune!" someone texted excitedly.
