The girlfriend pretends to be sick and calls someone else's husband in the hotel

Summary

When I burst into the hospital room, my girlfriend, Elara, was curled up on the bed in tears.

She grabbed my hand, her eyes swimming. She said the chemo needles made her bones ache and begged me not to leave her side for a second.

To scrape together the million-dollar surgery fee, I sold my house. I delivered food during the day and scrubbed toilets in a five-star hotel at night.

I thought if I just worked hard enough, I could buy back her health, and we’d be happy for the rest of our lives.
