Summary
On the morning of our big family vacation, I woke up early only to find the house completely, eerily quiet.
Confused, I unlocked my phone. A text from my sister, Ida, had just popped up in the family group chat.
"Shoot, I completely forgot to text this thread that we moved the departure time up!"
A second later, the message was recalled.
I stared blankly at the empty screen, a sudden, sharp sting prickling the backs of my eyes.
They had another group chat. One that didn't include me.
While I was still trying to process the hollow ache in my chest, my phone rang. It was Mom.
