Summary
At the award ceremony where my father received the Medal of Valor for his flood rescue efforts, our neighbor, Mrs. Miller, let something slip.
"You don't see selfless men like Captain Evans these days. He didn't even save his own daughter first. The water hadn't even reached the danger line when he sent the rescue boat to pick up my Bella."
I thought Mrs. Miller remembered it wrong.
"Mrs. Miller, my dad is famous for being impartial," I said. "I was trapped on the roof for three days. He made me wait for the unified rescue operation. How could he give special treatment?
