Summary
Six months ago, my mother knelt on the floor, begging me to donate a kidney to my stepsister.
Six months later, the night before my wedding, she knelt again, begging me to give up my fiancé to the stepdaughter she cherished so much.
My own biological brother slapped me across the face: "Aubrey, how can you be so selfish? She's dying, don't you know that?"
It's okay. In two more months, I'll be dead too, and everyone will finally be satisfied.
