Summary
My parents always said I was a spoiled, lazy parasite.
It started with me needing to grip the edge of the bed for ten minutes just to swing my legs over. Then came the shuffling, my feet dragging against the hardwood like lead weights. A single meal would take me until sundown to finish. Eventually, I couldn't even hold a fork, and my words began to dissolve into a thick, slurring mess.
The specialist at the neurological center told me I needed an urgent follow-up. He pulled my father aside, warning him that I shouldn’t be left alone for even an hour.
