Summary
After I traded my luck to my brother, he was no longer the slow, simple boy I grew up with. He became sharp, clever—the respected Mr. Aston, CEO of our family’s company.
And I, once the gifted child, was left with the mind of a seven-year-old, so clumsy I could barely walk without stumbling.
It pained him to see me fall and hurt myself, so he brought our housekeeper’s daughter, Maya, to live with us.
“You’re the same age,” he told me, a gentle smile on his face. “I know you’ll be the best of friends.”
I was so happy. I ran to get my favorite teddy bear to show her.
