The Master Code

Summary

When we got to my boyfriend’s apartment, I stopped dead in my tracks at the front door.

"You need to text your mom for the temporary passcode, right? I can sit here and wait..."

Liam expertly punched a string of numbers into the keypad. With a soft click, the heavy door swung open.

"Why would I need a temporary passcode to get into my own house? Those are for plumbers and dog walkers."

He cheerfully typed the code into my phone so I'd have it.

"From now on, you don't even need to knock. Just let yourself in!"

I stared at the numbers on the screen, and I suddenly broke down.
