Summary
My son, Leo, has been in kindergarten for three years, and I’ve never attended a single parent-child event.
It’s not that I didn’t want to. Every time I brought it up, he would cry, throw a tantrum, and cling to my husband’s leg:
"I don't want Mommy to go!"
This time, he won an award for an essay, and my husband rejected my request to go with him, just as usual.
"Leo wrote about 'My Mother.' If the real person is there, he'll be shy. It's better if I just go."
"After the awards ceremony is over, the three of us can go out and celebrate."
