Summary
My roommate and I split the cost of a lottery ticket and won seven million dollars.
That night, she transferred me six dollars and said, "Bestie, buying the lottery ticket was my idea. I've paid you back the money you chipped in, so this lottery ticket has nothing to do with you anymore."
I laughed out of sheer anger. Just as I was about to argue with her, I noticed that the small statue of the Virgin Mary I kept on my desk had suddenly lost an arm.
A broken arm on a holy statue is an omen of extreme misfortune; it seeks to save a life.
