The Price of Second Place

Summary

The school bully gives me $10,000 a month, forbidding me to rank first.

"Hailey has strong self-esteem, she can't stand not being first. Anyway you have good grades, first or not doesn't matter."

I took the money, stayed as number two for three years.

Before College Admissions, he found me again.

Concise: "$100,000, don't take the SATs, Hailey wants to be the city's valedictorian."

Paused, then said: "wronged you these years, next year I accompany you to repeat a year."

I happily agreed.

Turned around holding MIT full ride scholarship offer flying to Boston.
