Summary
My boyfriend lived his life by one golden rule:
He didn’t prioritize people by how much he loved them, but by how urgent their situation was.
When my best friend Jasmine and I both caught a terrible fever, he drove her to the ER first simply because her temperature was 0.1 degrees higher than mine.
When my mother finally reached the top of the transplant list after three agonizing years, he begged me to yield the directed kidney donation to Jasmine’s mother, arguing that her condition was far more critical.
And then came tonight.
